Leading up to Veterans Day, H4H has the great pleasure of bringing local veterans to several elementary schools in our service area for a special book reading to kindergarten students since launching this community engagement program in 2015.
To help children understand that veterans walk among civilians every day. Veterans read “Veterans: Heroes in Our Neighborhoods” by Valerie Pfundstein, the book introduces children to the real-life superheroes in society – our military veterans – and depicts, in a child-appropriate learning level, who veterans are and what they did to serve and assist our country.
This is a wonderful chance for these young students to interact and learn the meaning of the holiday from these veterans first-hand!
If you are a Kindergarten teacher interested in bringing this program to your school in 2017 please fill out the form below. Krista Landry, Associate Director of Outreach, will be in touch with you closer to the month of October to set up a time for the reading. Readings are based on a first come, first serve basis. We may not be able to fulfill all requests.
All veterans interested in reading please email Krista. Thank you for your service!
