Heidrea for Heroes provides custom support and resources to assist veterans through a wide variety of challenges that can arise in civilian life. Veterans and military widows of all ages and all war eras are eligible to apply to us for assistance in the following areas: Plymouth County, Norfolk County, Bristol, and Barnstable counties.
Adaptive Housing & Vehicle Modifications
Veterans with significant disabilities often require modifications to their homes or vehicles for full accessibility. Modifications such as ramps, widened doorways, stair lifts, voice activation equipment, etc. can be beyond the reach for individual veterans to absorb financially. H4H works regularly with local contractors to execute and fund qualified projects that ensure safe access and use of homes and vehicles for veterans. For elderly veterans, these improvements have allowed them to continue living independently in the comfort of their own homes.
Qualified Home Repairs
All homeowners know that maintaining a home is costly and ongoing. H4H accepts applications for support of home repairs that are needed for the health and safety of the veteran’s household. Leaking windows, damaged roofs, plumbing issues, safety railings, stair repairs, and more are among the types of projects that H4H has taken care of many times for veterans across the region.
Immediate Relief
At Heidrea for Heroes, we understand that juggling the financial demands of life can be challenging. Job loss, unexpected medical bills, or a particularly harsh winter can make it difficult to pay utility bills, take care of an unforeseen car repair, or put food on the table. You may be eligible for our one-time assistance for immediate relief.
Specialized Equipment
Today’s technology allows those with disabilities to have a range of mobility for enjoyable recreation activities, however the costs can be prohibitive. We consider applications for a variety of equipment that can offer veterans with disabilities the chance to enjoy the outdoors, build confidence, and have positive interaction with friends and family. From adaptive sporting equipment to all-terrain wheelchairs for outdoor recreation, such activities improve overall quality of life.
Custom Support
If you are a veteran with a need that is not described above, please give us a call to talk through your situation. We may still be able to help, or we can point you in the direction of another agency to meet your specific needs. We accept applications that address unique circumstances your spouse or a dependent child as well, because we understand that your family’s well-being is directly connected to your own.
